I wanted to delete a Skype username and was previously able to do so by going into the application support folder and then opeining the Skype folder and deleting the relevant username.

Now in Lion the Skype folder in application support has gone. Can anyone help me locate this file please or let me know how to delete a Skype username in Lion.

Thanks in advance!

Hi!

I had exactly the same problem. It is a hidden folder now. You can force the "Finder" to see also the hidden files and folders. In the "Terminal" just type:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE

followed by the command

killall Finder

Then you can see again the skype profiles in the folder User/Local User Name/Library/Application Support/Skype/. To set the Finder settings back just execute those same commands above, but switch that TRUE to FALSE.

I hope it helps.

Thank You

Thank you so much mtra69, it worked no problem. Really, really appreciate your help, it was driving me crazy!

Thank you again.

hey i have the same question, i'm not sure how to use terminal is there an easier way to do this? or is there a way you can explain it in laymen's terms?

thanks

Yes, there is an easier way. Go to Finder and choose the "Go" menu. In the menu select "Go to Folder...". Search for ~/Library and you will see the hidden Library folder.

PS: The terminal you can find in the Utilities folder within the Applications folder.

I did that and it worked. But now the hidden folders are in my finder and there are some items in my desktop. I can't remove the item .DS_Store from my desktop. I would like to know how to undo that Kill all command. Please help, thanks.

All you have to do is read the post to the very end. However I will post the commands to hide the hidden files. Please do NOT delete or move any of the hidden files as you can mess up your system.

In Terminal write the following code (after each line of code press enter):

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE

Then write:

killall Finder
