Hey all-

Hope all is well with everyone. I was just curious to know if this has happened to anyone before. I recently purchased an iMac, and have set up the mail using my gmail account. However, no matter how many times I delete the emails they keep popping back up. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Hwilensky

Thanks for the reply but it is an Imap. I set it up as a POP account, but I found out you can not delete the emails from my phone using POP. I would have to still delete emails from my mailbox on my desktop. Here is a screen shot maybe it will help out.

go to mail.google.com and go to settings, then go the the forwarding and pop/imap tab. under folder size limits click on - Limit IMAP folders to contain no more than this many messages and set to 1000. you will be able to delete them and they won't come back.

So it is an IMAP account, but you set it up as POP? That's the point, you need to set it up as an IMAP account so that no matter which device you delete a message from, it deletes entirely.

Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email#Email_terminologies -> Check out the protocols section and learn the difference between POP3 and IMAP.

I should of mentioned that I deleted the mailbox and reset it purely as an IMAP account. Yet it still keeps resending me emails after I delete them.

when offline - delete messages and reappear

I have an Exchange account (now served through Exchange 365).
If I delete or move messages from my Inbox while OFFLINE (for example on a flight - a proper time to do some cleanup) - after a few minutes messages would reappear in the Inbox.
The "keep deleted messages in the server" is ticked - I prefer to have that as a backup.

Can it be solved without unticking the "keep messages in server"?

Thanks

Having same/ similar issue, any luck resolving this?

OSX is Mountain Lion, using MAC mail with IMAP through DavMail to connect to Echange 2003.

When wireless connection is a bit flakey, on a train for instance, recently moved or deleted email reappears back in the inbox.

Presuming this is as a result of the lost connection to exchange being reestablished and the exchange server taking precedence over the local Mac Mail?

Any thoughts or solutions?
