So, last week my G5 went back to Apple. Again. Just before it started crapping out with the exact same problem it was having the month before, I started to remove everything from my external USB2 drive - broken down like roughly like this:

• 50Gb music
• 50Gb photos
• 100Gb videos
• 10Gb web stuff

So what I did was removed something to the G5's internal disk, then deleted it off the external, and emptied the trash. I continued doing this until now only 30Gb of the music is still there unmoved.

Of course, just as I get to here, the G5 logic board goes arse over, and dies a death. Apple come and pick it up, and I have no chance to get the files off the drive (although last time it was in they didn't even touch it).

I have heard of the wonders of Prosoft's Data Rescue II, but would just like some reassurance that there's a chance, even if Apple restore the drive, that I can get most of the photos (all I really care about), back from one of the drives?

Otherwise my girlfriend is going to kill me. Slowly. 😱 🙁 🙁 🙁
