I deleted this by mistake and I really need it.....is there any way i can get it back I lost my snow leopard install disk.

Download the trial. It's the same as the install disk. It should pick up your license, too.

Oh, and now's a good time to consider a Time Machine drive... ;)

it didnt pick up my license is there any where that it would be saved on my computer

Were you just using the trial or had you purchased it (it was fully functional during the 30-day trial period)? I don't know off-hand which file it's stored in. I can poke around, though.

edit: Looks like the key is in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWork09.plist. Unless you manually deleted it, it should have been there for the new install.

i purchased it with my snow leopard disc and cant find them ....i was cleaning up some files and mistakley drag the iworks 09 to the trash and then emptied my trash..... i downloaded the trail one just now but it has not recognized my license

com.apple.iWork.Keynote.LSSharedFileList.plist
com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist
com.apple.iWork.Numbers.LSSharedFileList.plist
com.apple.iWork.Numbers.plist
com.apple.iWork.Pages.LSSharedFileList.plist
com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist

these are the only ones there

Something in the back of my head remembers the retail box doesn't require a key. Maybe someone else can verify. That means you might not have the plist file I mentioned.

Give Apple a call - they would have a record of the sale (if purchased through their store). Maybe they can gen a key for you.

In the mean time, you should have full functionality for the next 30 days.

anyone else have any ideas ......i bought the laptop used and I do not remember the guys name i bought it from.............am i screwed and going to have to buy spend the $79 to get this program back..i have no apple care left either

But you said you bought it with SL and couldn't find the discs...

Sorry - I just can't think of anything that can be done with out either the retail disc, a purchased key, or a backup of your install.

i do not know where I put them I have been looking all over the place for them......I got them when I bought it but since have moved and do not know where I put them

would a data recovery like stellar phoenix work?????

That's more for a drive that's failed, where it won't mount and the directory is unrepairable. It's possible it might find the old version, but if you've been using the machine there's a good chance those sectors got overwritten. Also, the apps aren't individual files - they're packages with many, many, files inside.

There is no key for iWork 09.

I agree, buy yourself an external HDD and use Time Machine if nothing else, though you should be doing other backups as well. For a 500GB HDD you are looking at $70 tops, shop around and get one, think of it as cheap insurance for times like these

so basically try calling apple tomorrow and if that fails then I have to buy iworks 09 again??

why would you need to buy it again? we just need to consolidate the correct info and advice here.

if you bought an iWork '09 disc the com.apple.iWork09.Installer plist in Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences is set as "Retail" or if you downloaded iWork '09 it would be set as "Trial" and you would have to input a serial on launch.

as you bought it all you have to do is put back your com.apple.iWork09.installer plist after installing the trial to not need to put in a serial. you may need to get back the original plist from a backup.

com.apple.iWork09.Installer.plist
com.apple.iWork09.plist

this is what shows up in pref. now......when i open these it says trial what should i do know

Contact Apple. If the discs were legitimate, Apple should provide you with replacements for a nominal charge.
