I decided to use a program to sync my home folders across an ibook g4 and my intel imac. Like an idiot, I also allowed my user's ~Library folder to by synced, and now I'm stuck with tons of useless stuff in the ~Library folders of both machines that I don't need.

If I didn't mind losing my prefs for the few apps I use like Safari and Mail, if I deleted the ~Library folder, would OS X just regenerate it with all the defaults that come with a brand new user account? Or will deleting it really screw up my user account?

It's probably not the best idea. If you use Mail.app ALL of your downloaded mail is in ~Library. If you use Delicious Library ALL your content is in ~Library.

You get the idea! Lost of apps use this area to store stuff. Deleting it outright could be a bad move...
