Deleted photo's still remaining on iPad.

I deleted photo's out of iPhoto and synced my iPad 3 with iTunes, but the photo's are remaining on the iPad. I even tried unsyncing and deleting the photo's and sync them back onto the iPad and the photo's are still there.

Not sure what to do.

My iPad photos are in a folder on my Macbook called "Photos for iPad/iPod". When I want to delete any, I delete them from that folder and then sync. The folder on the Macbook and the one on my iPad stay the same. (Doesn't apply to the camera roll.)
