Well for starters, it could be a defective mouse. Have you tried another? I suppose it can also be something messed up with your installation of OSX. If you feel SL is causing it, and you have original leopard discs, you just boot from the Leopard disc and just move your mouse around the menu's there to see if the problem persists. Because really, you first need to figure out if this is a hardware or a software problem.

Well OSX just uses its own standard mouse drivers, unless you installed a 3rd party mouse app from like logitech or something. If you did, you can try uninstalling it and then rebooting. Also, as I mentioned before, boot from any leopard installation disc and see if the mouse also reacts oddly moving around the installation menu's.

Hello,

I just received my new mac pro (with Radeon 4870) and am having mouse issues. The mouse seems to "jump" around every few seconds and is JUST GETTING ON MY NERVES. I've been doing a google searches on this to no avail. It COULD be Snow Leopard, but do not know as I have not downgraded to regular Leopard.

My question:

Does anyone else have a similar machine, and/or experiencing this issue?

If not, is there anything I can do resolve this issue, or at least deduce what is causing the problem?

any help would be greatly appreciated

thank you:)

Check Activity Monitor to see if something isn't using a disproportionate amount of resources. Try repairing permissions and restarting, also reset PRAM/NVRAM.

4870 drivers causes mouse jumping on some displays, check apple discussion board, it's pretty common

Hello everybody.

I got the same frustrating issue on my 27" iMac (3,06ghz).
My mouse jumps randomly when I move it. It doesn't move regularly, just like Knowhate.

I tried to move on different surface (white, black, red...), but same problem. With over mouses same problem.

Oddly with my mbp all the mouses work just fine.

I reinstalled snow leopard (clean install) and the problem stays.

Does someone can help me ?

P.S. : Sorry for my bad English, I'm French :)
