iPod Deleting ALL songs?

I'm trying to delete ALL of the songs from my iPod. However, when I try to do it, it doesn't work. My computer crashed about a month ago, and all the songs on the computer were lost. But I had my iPod on manual, so the songs were still on it. I learned that the hard way---when I deleted them soon after I got my iPod, they deleted from the iPod. Now that I WANT to delete them, I can't. I've tried manual update, automatic update, everything. Nothing works. Is it because the songs aren't on my computer anymore? Please someone tell me there's a way to do this. Thanks in advance

You could use the iPod software to reformat the iPod.
