Deleting E-mails en masse....again

I know this is a "retro" question (or rant), but since IOS 8 provides the ability to flag all emails, why not just give the ability to "DELETE"! Is there a technical reason that IOS 8 (and IOS 7, for that matter) preventing this!!!!😡

Shame Apple didn't allow multitouch for the long-swipe to delete either, you could have done three or four in a row fairly quickly then 😛
