Deleting Emails without Synching

Hello,

Hope you can help me out with a query. I have set up iCloud on my iPhone and iPad, along with a @me.com email address. I'm finding that when I delete an email from my iPhone, it automatically deletes it from my iPad, which is the beauty of synchronisation I guess!.
However, is it possible to delete emails from one device (iPhone) but keep it on the other (iPad) and vice versa, or do I need to store the email offline, or in another folder to prevent this from happening?
