Deleting Files

I'm new to mac and im cleaning up my external hard drive. however when i try to empty trash in my mac, it says "the operation cannot be completed.... because you do not have sufficient privileges for some items" i want them deleted. How can I do that? please help. Thanks

Also try rebooting. Worked for me 🙂
