Deleting firefox bookmarks is resource hungry!

I was trying to delete bookmarks in firefox by highlighting them and hitting the delete key. As it turn out this was taking forever and was using a lot of the CPU/RAM! Removing bookmarks one at a time by itself. I had to force quite.

I've finally deleted all my bookmarks in firefox but I had to force quite when done. For some reason firefox would not quite!
