This might seem like a stupid question....but is it possible to delete a picture from photo stream? Or does that defeat the purpose?

I don't think it's possible and could be quite embarrassing if you catch my drift.
On the latest beta version of ios, this is possible
Finally. I don't even use photostream for that reason, i hate that you have to delete the entire photostream just because i took one picture of my penis. How annoying.
