Deleting Outlook deletes Apple ID?

So, my Apple ID was created using Outlook but now I want to migrate everything over to Apple so I am wondering what happens if I delete my Outlook account entirely, will I be locked out of my Apple ID forever? Or can I actually use my @icloud alias to keep using my account? Will that @icloud address default to my Apple ID and not an alias? Should I turn off two-step authentication before messing with this?

I keep calling Apple Support but the call just won't come through and I need answers before tomorrow as I want to start iOS 11 without issues.

Any help is really appreciated. Thanks!
