Is there any way to delete photos imported using the camera connection kit all at once? My plan is to use my iPad only as a backup device, and to delete the imported photos off the iPad as soon as I have copied them onto my Mac Pro. I have no need to store any photos on the iPad long term, other than a few favorites synced from iPhoto. The photos imported using the CCK do not show up in iTunes, and I don't see a "select all" option on the iPad.

I'm using my 64GB iPad & CCK for this same purpose.

to delete all the photos at once, connect your iPad to your Mac via USB cable, then launch the Image Capture app on the Mac (app is included with OS X). you can do a Select All, then press the delete button in Image Capture (or of course delete just selected photos)

p.s. of course you can also delete imported photos within the Photos app on the iPad itself, but it is more tedious if you have a lot of photos. As you've notices, unfortunately there isn't a Select All option on the iPad, but you can select multiple photos for deleting.

e.g. you can go to the All Imported album, then click on the icon at top right (the one that lets you email, copy or delete a photo). Tap and hold a photo until you see a blue checkmark, then if you drag your finger over other photos without releasing, you can select multiple photos. then after selecting the desired photos, tap on the Delete button. as I said, this is kinda tedious for more than a handful of photos, but at least you can delete small batches of imported photos directly on the iPad this way.

I tried deleting in Image Capture with my iPad connected via USB last night, but the Delete option was grayed out on the Edit menu.

Thanks for teaching me the select and drag trick. Much better than pecking on each individual photo to add it to the selection! This will work for me just fine. I shoot raw and will have at most a few hundred photos to delete at any one time.

    you're welcome!

BTW, you said the delete option was grayed out in the Edit menu. I notice that as well.

however, did you try clicking on the Delete icon (red circle), down near the bottom of the Image Capture window? i.e. next to the "Import To:" popup? that's the Delete button I had mentioned previously.
