Deleting Photos

So I am trying to clear some HD space. I have 300Gb of photos.
I have just deleted about 5GB worth but my available space didn't change after I emptied the photos app trash. Normal trash can is also empty

I deleted from the library not an album

ANy ideas?

Use something like Disk Inventory X (free) to get an idea of where the large file are.

Download the small, free utility called DiskWave:
https://diskwave.barthe.ph

Then, open it.
You'll see what to do next.

TIP: Go to preferences and set normally invisible files to be visible.

I can see where my files are using the macs own calculations via 'about this mac'
Most of them are in photos - but when I delete them they don't go away

Are you using iCloud, by any chance?
If so, could that have something to do with it...?
