I have an iMac and use the Mail application withing El Capitan. The size of my mail folders has grown out of control over the past few weeks and has almost filled up my hard drive. The culprit seems to be folders named Rebuild_Data, Rebuild_Data1, etc. I have about 9 taking up 200 Gig of my HD.

Is there a problem with deleting these? What issues would/could I face? Thank you

I've not seen these folders before, but it sounds like a failed rebuild and they can be deleted.

Are these folders visible in the User's Library/Mail folder or are you able to view in folders?

Yes, they are visible. The path is Library/Mail/V3/POP-email account name@yahoo/Inbox.mbox/"a file with a bunch of number"/then there is 1 file named Data, then the others are Data_Rebuild, Data_Rebuild 1, etc up to 9

    thank you
