iPhone Deleting songs with IOS 7

After the update, iTunes put all of the music ever downloaded back on my phone. I tried switching my setting to show only songs downloaded to show but when I did that the ability to delete (By swiping left) was lost. I deleted a song from itunes and it is still in on my phone. What gives? Anything I am missing? 😡

So, is it correct to assume that connecting to itunes and syncing only checked music doesn't work?!
