I know this isn't typical, since most people want more information in their metadata/id3 tags, but I've never been big on it. I'm trying to get my music sorted just by artist name, and then have the songs listed in alphabetical order. Obviously sorting by artist is easy, but getting their songs in alphabetical order is tricky, since they sort by album automatically per artist.

The only way around this is to delete every album entry in each track, which I don't really mind doing, but since nobody really has their music sorted like this, I haven't found a script or anything to delete all album information. I've tried some scripts, but they usually try to replace or fill in data, rather than delete it. Is there something I'm missing, or a script I haven't seen?

Thanks.

Couldn't you just do this in iTunes?

Select all the tracks you want to delete the album name from and press Apple + I (get info). The metadata window should pop up with a blank in the Album Name box (assuming songs are from different albums). Click the check box next to it and the album data should be cleared.
