I would imagine that the battery used in both P4EE notebooks contributes a significant amount to their weight. I wonder if Apple can find a way to improve the performance of their PowerBook line and yet increase the average battery life.

I don't doubt it. With the P4EE they'd have to use a Battery from a Dodge Neon.

Yeah, it would be great to just get a hundred dollar game console, but none of the good games that you have access to on the computer are on them. Unless I see Black and White, Age of Empires, Command and Conquer, Sim City, and stuff like that on an Xbox or Gamecube, I can't see just cutting out the gaming market on the compute

Those games you listed don't require a heavy duty processor anyway, as i can play most of them on my dinosaur comp no probs

I have to wonder about the battery life of that machine, especially if it has the Pentium 4 EE inside
playing games on any laptop would drain its battery

I never understand why people pay some much for things like this, when you can get a console for $100...

Because there are a lot of good games that are not on consoles. Because a controller is inferior to a keyboard and mouse for most games (esp FPS).
Because you can't create mods or user-made maps for console games (at least not yet).

I got an Xbox for Xmas, and a bunch of guys at work also have Xboxs so we have "Xbox days" at work (we hook up a bunch of them over our network after on weekends/holidays) and have an absolute blast. But I still miss the days of mods and custom maps when I gamed on a PC. One of my favorite games was a UT mod called "Infiltration." Granted there's a lot of crappy user-made stuff out floating around but the gaming community turns out some real gems every now and then.
