I'm interested in buying a 17 in monitor either CRT or Flat Panel. I'm looking at the Dell Displays and I was wondering what is the difference between 450:1 contrast ratio and 1000:1 contract ratio. Will I really be able to tell the difference between the two? I'm not sure what the difference in price will be b/c I'm getting it used.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for 17 inch monitors that they really like for under $300(Probably under $200 on eBay). I've read other posts but most people seem to be on about a $500+ budget whereas I'm a lot less. What I'm looking for is something that will hold its value, until I can afford a larger monitor.
