For my Mac Studio I consider a Dell 2560x1440 display from Dell. I need sharp text. Will one of these monitors be sufficient? Which one is the better buy? Or will the Studio Display be better at this resolution?

Depends how sharp is sharp. The ASD has 218 ppi. The Dells have 109 ppi. So I would go for an ASD if you want a 27”. I have a 34” Ultrawide with 163ppi and I enjoy it a lot.

Does the Dell U2722D work with a USB-C to HDMI cable?
The ASD cost 4 times more.

The U2722DE works best as the center of a workstation, plugged into a laptop. It doesn’t make sense as a single monitor for a desktop. For that, go with a cheaper option with fewer connections, like the S2721D with a similar IPS panel at less than half the price, or innumerable options from other sellers. Likewise, gamers and media junkies can find bigger, faster screens at this price range without input and output flexibility.

But if you want a home base for your powerful laptop, either in your home office or at your desk at work, the U2722DE is an excellent choice.
