You'd have to go with RGB LED over the WLED on the iMac. The Dell uses classic CCFLs as a compromise. RGB LEDs would have demanded an even higher price over CCFLs.
He called Dell. You always get a better price by calling rather than just going through the website. These things aren't really 1099.
Called today trying to get this for 750. Rep basically laughed at me. I even had my IT see how much it would be under corporate account, and it wasn't 750.

Here's a 24" cinemavew display. For $500 it aint bad. I don't know if they're going to manufacture a 27" in the future though.

I looked all over the site too and it doesn't say...which leads me to believe that it is CCFL not LED. The response times and viewing angles also suggest that it isnt IPS either.
So while it looks nice...it may not be that good a value at $500
It's just a waste that the design especially at the rear look like crap. In addition to that, LED isn't really that much more costly if its added...
The U2410 hasn't dropped a dime. At best it was $499 over Christmas.
Dell's high end displays stay expensive and if they drop $100, expect a new model around the corner.
I'd really like to know what coupons and pormo codes they used to get the U2711 down to $750. Maybe I can do the same for the U2410.

This is a huge rip off. You can get the same specs from a $280 monitor without looking hard.
How many times does it have to be said the price of the Dell monitor will drop over time unlike the imac.
Well if you are referring to the post I made before I can see the irony. But I figured this cinema wannabe is probably a low quality monitor in a fancy case, so if you are even considering it you might as well by a cheap monitor that's actually cheap.I love the irony...
