I have a Dell 1908wfp and I love it for general purpose, I'm getting more into photo and video editing lately and I'm upgrading it to 20" acd. (alu) I'll still keep the dell around as my secondary screen.... I would recommend you get yourself a secondhand 20" aluminum cinema display. Any TN panel would look bad next to a 23" acd

It's an IPS panel for less than what the Dell TN equivalent costs. I've not got one but have been considering it. They have gotten favourable reviews from both experts and users.

Seriously, do yourself a favor and wait until you can afford another ACD (or two other better quality panels. If you sell your ACD and get two Dell TN panels you'll be sorely disappointed.
Why not look for some of the older panels? I run dell 2005fpw's that I picked up for £80 each. They are s-ips panels so your not going to get better. I beleive the 2007wfp are good too being either s-pva or s-ips. Don't go for a 22" as others hae said the quality is poor, mainly because the resolution is the same as a 20" monitor on 22"'s. 2407's can be picked up at good prices used too, normally for around £250. These are all mostly the same panels as in an acd
