Hey guys - considering purchasing a second monitor so I can hook up to MBP and occasionally my iMac - been looking around and seen the Dell U2719D 27" (clicky). We use Dell monitors at work and they're gorgeous displays.

Would you guys recommend this?

Seems like a decent-enough display. I guess it all depends on what you need it for. It's probably not the best for color-critical work or high-end gaming, but for general use it's probably more than sufficient.

I have two Dell S2719DM displays on my desk for general office tasks and they're great.

My wife has one plugged into her Mac Mini 2012.
The panel is practically the same as the 27 Cinema/Thunderbolt Display, only matte.
No problems whatsoever and a 3 year warranty. Can't go wrong with it for that price. (€400 here)

Adding an antidote. After 8 years of 12/7/365 service my U2711 finally broke :(. I purchased the U2719D as a replacement. It is connected to a Macbook Pro 15" Mid 2012. It is connected via the thunderbolt / display port with a LaCie 2big. I noticed that the monitor would not wake from sleep. The monitor is DP 1.4 by default. I read that the speed differences between DP 1.4 and thunderbolt (1) might be a problem. There is a way to change the monitor to DP 1.1a. From the user guide, press and hold DP select key for 8 sec to change the monitor setting from DP 1.4 to DP 1.1a. It is not exactly 8 seconds, hold the key until the pop-up appears. Do the same to change it back. No problems since the change.
