Dell U2720QM vs LG 27UK850

Hi,
Long story for short, I planned to get a Dell U2720QM, but have a question: does it wake up together with MBP properly?

The reason I'm asking this question is, I got the LG 27UK850 like 2 years ago, and it has been bugging me since day 1: It just won't wake up properly w/ my MacBook Pro 13 2018. Every time when I turn on my MBP, the LG display would just also turn on but a short while after it turns itself off. No matter which one I turn on first, the LG display just won't stay awake patiently - I need to select input source to let it stay awake until the MBP finishes booting. Sometimes I just want to punch the stupid display because I'm soooo annoyed by it. Other than the wake up problem, the LG 4K display works great for me.

My current setup:

[MacBook Pro 13" 2018 w/ Touch Bar] -(TB3)-> [BlackMagic eGPU] -(HDMI)-> [LG 27UK850]

If the Dell display doesn't have the wake up issue for MBP, I'll definitely go with it. Just did some research but can't find answer.

Have you tried it connected to your Mac.
Sounds like it might be an issue with eGPU.

I have the LG 27UL850 and also have an eGPU, but don’t have this problem.

Just tried:
when MBP is connected to HDMI port on LG display: it seems fine but when the lid is closed the monitor will turn off too - probably the Clamshell mode is enable only when the MBP is connects to USB-C on monitor so that it can be powered by USB-C.

when MBP is connected to USB-C port on LG display: feels like the connection is broken - blinks a lot. Not sure if that's problem of Apple OEM TB3 cable.

can I ask how do u connect ur 27UL850 to eGPU, is it thru HDMI or USB-C? is the eGPU also the BlackMagic Radeon Pro 850?

I use the Razer Core X Chroma + AMD 5700XT Anniversary Edition and connect to the monitor with HDMI. I've also used DisplayPort.
