thank you. BTW what software r you using to scale 16:9 movies completely in that 21:9 monitor without looking terrific?

it depends. if the movie is originally at 21:9 then it will fill the whole monitor. if it's 16:9 then you'd get black at the sides. If you stretch 16:9 to 21:9 you're literally stretching to fill the whole screen. The movie i watched is originally at 21:9 no there's no scaling involved. The software i'm using is mplayerx

Got my second replacement. Not surprised that it's worse than the first. Oh well, let the waiting game begin.

I'm waffling on whether to send mine back or not. It's really bad in the upper corners, about as bad as your first one. But I'm also not sure how I feel about playing the backlight bleed lottery.

Also, the screen has problems waking up when the computer wakes up from sleep in OS X. (It does not have this problem in Windows 7.) Do you have any wake from sleep problems?

I don't mind if there's subtle backlight bleeding but I seriously can see that yellow glow while watching movies and it's extremely distracting. And no I don't have any wake up problems. i'm running on 10.9.5

FYI looks like DP1.2 doesn't play nice with the nMP with D700 video cards using 10.10.2, screen goes blank with DP 1.2 enabled, DP 1.1 works fine when set using the screen menu.

Raised an Applecare call, ran the timingsnoop app and emailed them the results.

Looks like its a driver issue that they are going to try and fix.

The odd thing is my Mac Mini late 2012 works fine.

Great screen if you can live with the IPS glow.

works fine on mine. did you use the hdmi and turn off dp 1.2 feature? reconnect back with the mDP to DP to get 60Hz

Yup I used HDMI on my raspberry PI to change form DP1.2 to 1.1, but the screen goes blank after reconnection the mdp and setting the screen back to 1.2

FWIW, my Samsung S34E790C works fine with my nMP (dual D700) in DisplayPort 1.2 mode.

Have an Early-2011 MBP w/ HD6750 (8,2).

Until recently I was running 2 daisy-chained TBD whose pixel count is greater than this, but if anyone can confirm for a fact that their similar version MBP can drive a screen, that'd be wicked.

I have this monitor now with my Mac Mini, as my Samsung 34er Curved is gone for repair as it started making a high pitched noise on some websites (with alot of blue) and also when the screen was put in sleep mode when the LED flashed.

The Dell looks better out of the box for colour, what are you guys running your settings on with the screen?

The Dell is factory calibrated, so if you mean color settings, I wouldn't change them to someone else's settings.

I disabled DP 1.2 because it doesn't get me anything and doing so solves some compatibility issues. I turned the brightness way down because this thing is so bright it almost feels like my eyeballs are being assaulted.

You may have to "map" the upstream USB port to the appropriate video in port due to the way this monitor can be used as a KVM switch for two computers.

Yeah I didnt touch any colour settings only brighness as you say!

Unfortunately mine will be going back as I cannot stand the bleeding in the corners when watching movies, my Samsung was way better.

I have this monitor using a MBP 13" mid-2012. I can only use it when the laptop lid is closed. Otherwise, when it's open, at 3440x1440 the bottom of the screen gives this tearing affect.

The integrated Intel HD 4000 Graphics in the mid-2012 13" MBP support a maximum external display resolution of 2560x1600 when used simultaneously with the built-in display (this is in the 2012 MBP specifications). 3440x1440 is quite a bit larger than 2560x1600 (roughly 20%), so I'm guessing the HD 4000 simply isn't enough to adequately drive both displays.

You might be able to get rid of the tearing by dropping the refresh rate of the Dell monitor (i.e. try running it at 30Hz and see it goes away).

I was able to get the monitor to display at full 3440x1440 at 50Hz (PAL), along w/ the mbp open. I guess that's the best I'm going to do.

This is better than the two 20" monitors I was using before that so I guess it's ok.
