sorry for not being detailed i will be using it with my 15" unibody mbp, and i mostly use my mbp for every day use (web surfing) and programming and ya what is the best way to connect it (VGA, DVI) and is there a cable for HDMI to minidisply port for the mbp?

You'll need Monoprice's Mini DisplayPort-HDMI adapter for the TV. You won't get audio through it.

If you're not using it for anything professionally, you don't need to worry about panel quality or...

Wait, is it a TV or a monitor (the Dell)? Can HDMI output to 2650x1600?

If so, use HDMI, if not, use DVI with Apple's Mini DisplayPort-dual link DVI adapter.
