Is anyone interested in this? I've spent the last 4 or 5 hours tweaking extensions and scripts to support the Dell Wireless 5510 (Cingular / at&t HSDPA) card in the latest build of leopard.

If you want the package, just PM me.

It still has one bug... the modem status on the menu bar doesn't work yet.

Please hook me up with the drivers/scripts

I sent you a PM a few days ago. I really want to get this to work in Leopard. I ordered one from Dell thinking it would work and didn't realize that the tuples were different.

    Dell 5510

The Dell 5510 gets identified under USB in OS X Leopard as -

    Novatel Wireless HSDPA Modem:

    Version: 0.00
    Bus Power (mA): 500
    Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
    Manufacturer: Novatel Wireless
    Product ID: 0x8118
    Vendor ID: 0x413c

But will still not work...

Can I please have those tweaked extensions and scripts?

    Very interested

I, too, would love to know how to get a Dell 5510 card to work on my Mac (using a USB adapter). I can connect and then I am automatically disconnected seconds later. Grrr...

Nice job. Except I'd like to know why anyone would buy the Dell card when the Option card is the same price.

How to make my Dell card 5510 on a Mac

I used to have a Dell laptop with a Dell 5510 express card and a 3G plan with Orange.

I recently bought a Mac Laptop and was surprised I could not use my Dell 5510 card with it although it is a Novatel xu870 (thanks to Dell). If anyone could help me to set it up and make it work, it would be greatly appreciated. I have been trying for few days and am really struggling.

If I manage to make it work I will post the procedure to the forum.

    Thanks for your help.

    Post them here?

I'd like to PM you directly about this, but I'm a n00b on this forum so I can't PM yet...

I found a good source for the 5510 cards for about 100 bucks. I'm gonna pick one up today, and I'd like to try your scripts if I could. Can you post them here?

Dell 5510 expresscard (rebranded Merlin XU870) on MBP

Either I'm also restricted from PM's or I just stink at finding the way to do it. Either way, do you think I could get a hold of that package somehow? I've been trying to get this to work on my early 2008 MBP.

    Many thanks.

Yea I'm looking for drivers/scripts for this card too.

I couldn't find much on Leopard support for it. Does anyone know where I'd find these scripts, or be happy to email them?
