There appears to be a dent in my keyboard. Has this happened to anyone else? I got it a few weeks ago and this is the third time I have used it.

This seems to be an ongoing problem with the materials that Apple has selected for all of their folios, starting with the first to the latest. My original folio for my iPad Pro started to get a weave like pattern showing through. Call Apple of course, and ask for a replacement.

I'll be putting a skin on my MK this weekend. Hopefully it might preserve the finish/hide any emerging cosmetic issues. Sad state of affairs for the price of the MK:rolleyes:

I did contact them. Since it’s just past 14 days (19 days) they aren’t going to replace it

Where are you based because European law states faults within 28 days give you a legal right to refund or exchange, I’m not sure on the states

IMO you‘re definitely entitled to expect perfection for the price you paid, so that’s a bit of a bummer.

That being said, if you get to a point where you’re using your MK more than three times every couple of weeks, odds are it’s going to wind up looking pretty beat up anyway, and that little dent will be a very, very minor thing in the sea of battle scars your case will accrue.

Going to use it more often when I am out of the house after the quarantine is over, as when I am home I can just use my Mac connected to external monitor when I want to type. :)

Per Apple's website, you can do a return within 14 days after your local Apple Store opens. You may be in luck to try and get a refund and place a new order or try and go for exchange.

Q. How can I return an order I bought online while under shelter in place orders?
A: Start a return online at apple.com/orderstatus, where you can create a return shipping label to ship your product from a drop off point or schedule a pickup at your location. You can also return your product to an Apple Store within 14 days of the store's reopening.

Q: My local Apple Store is closed. When will it reopen?
A: Our retail stores are closed until further notice. We are committed to providing exceptional service to our customers. For service and support, go to support.apple.com or call 800‑275‑2273. For purchases with fast and free delivery, shop on apple.com or the Apple Store app. Please check https://www.apple.com/retail for the latest on Store Operating hours.

Q: I want to return a product I recently purchased but the 14-day return period ended during the retail store closure—what should I do?
A: Don’t worry. We’ll accept your return up to 14 days after we reopen.*
*Exclusions: Connected iPhones (JP, AU); Trade-in devices (value of device can be given in form of gift card); Carrier Financing for iPhone (CA only)

the material that's used inside the case feels like very hard Styrofoam and it dents like it with enough pressure. I picked up the keyboard with the ipad on it and accidentally made an indentation on the case with my fingers.

In the past, whenever I bought a brand new car and instead of worrying if a hit and run driver will dent the bumper or a door or if some punk was going to key the doors, I would put a few dents into the body myself and I stopped worrying.
Exactly! Plus you have the rare luxury of putting the dents EXACTLY where you want them. ;)

I have learned over the years to stop expecting perfection. Part of the reason is because my idea of perfection is ridiculous and unattainable, and part of the reason is because it doesn't actually exist even at levels less than what I expect. I've gotten trapped in the "exchange until you get a perfect one" treadmill in the past with iPhones and iPads and I always end up finding some super nitpicky thing on the replacement unit that might very well be even more minor than the original issue I exchanged for, but now bugs me even worse because I went to all this trouble to exchange it and by golly, they gave me less than flawless again!

If you look hard enough on any device, Apple or otherwise, you will find imperfections. I had to accept at one point that I'm way too finicky for my own good when it comes to things like this. Unless the device is majorly damaged right out of the box, I don't worry about any tiny flaws.
