Truth is they have done a poor job of creating “stock” watch faces. Very poor use of the shape and form factor, not the most creativity. Basically a lot of same-ey junk. Then total waste of time like tasteless Mickey Mouse money grabbing.

And with a lot of resources and time wasted.

Personally, I think it would be pretty cool to have a Rolex-style Apple Watch face...
Read the linked article.

Basically some of the Apple Watch faces do correspond to existing Rolex wristwatch faces:

Chronograph = Rolex Cosmograph or Omega Speedmaster
Count Up = Rolex Submariner or Omega Seamaster
GMT = Rolex GMT Master/GMT Master II

Of the chronographs, the Omega version is most famous for being the "moonwatch". It is still one of the few wristwatches certified by NASA for EVA (Extra Vehicular Activity = spacewalks, moonwalks).

The original Rolex Submariner style is one of the most heavily copied looks. Omega has leveraged their long association with the 007 franchise to make their Seamaster an iconic style. There are tons of great copycats/tributes like the Seiko Diver's Automatic which itself is considered a worthy classic now (and probably keeps more accurate time than the Swiss watches for about $130-150).

Back in the Eighties, Seiko marketed a Speedmaster that was kind of a cross between the Chronograph (three complications and tachymeter) and the Submariner (count up dive bezel).

The GMT watch face is very strongly tied to Rolex. There really isn't a classic Omega wristwatch with a similar face.

If you had to pick one Apple Watch face that said "Rolex" it would be the GMT face in the classic blue-red color pairing.

I wish Apple would make a round watch, too. 😢
I think they will eventually. I know a lot of people think that’s against Apple’s ‘guidelines of how they do things’, but Apple has proven many times over that they stepped outside the boundaries of what they normally wouldn’t have done in years past, and I think they can broaden the demographic and a capture more sales.

On the flipside, Apple is doing really well with the watch as we all know, and there really is only two players in town, and that’s the Apple Watch and Fitbit primarily.

From the looks of it Apple didn’t design it...they just did a copy & paste. If another company had done that to Apple they would have sued for everything.

Doesn't look like he designed anything, just outright stole face designs from the best watchmakers. History means nothing to a consumer, so his 'deep dive' is just empty hype.

I just wish there were more classic-style grown up looking faces/hands. Apple seems to keep them reserved for Hermes.
BTW, that Panerai is nice.
