Oldie but goodie

I have a late '06 MBP 2.33 15" with 4g ram IC2D; the most recent and most noticeably empowering upgrade I did was a purchase of an express card eSATA connection and purchase of a 1TB 7200 eSATA external partitioned with the first sector at 200GB (1st sector being the closest to the core of the disk, thus less spin time distance needed to travel to be read) and partitioned the rest of the drive for other purposes; this 200GB sector I use exclusively for scratch in PS and FCP studio... now when I don't have it hooked up and us PS I'm wondering what's wrong w/my machine then I realize I don't have the external 'scratch pad' there on the side it can write to on the fly... this cost me about $150 with a Fantom drive and the card.

I'm thinking about a new refurb in the next year for the RAM barrier and different display.

I'll swear by that external scratch, tho-

best,
nf

I did have one silly woman who used to work at my main client's business (for all of six months) who rather nastily laughed at me being an "IT expert" with then 10 year old equipment ... but then a real IT expert should know how to get the best out of the equipment, rather than simply throwing money at unnecessary upgrades. :)

Mmmm. I think you're right to an extent, but I also think an 'IT Expert' should take an interest in newer tech, keep an open mind, and not bury/lock themselves into old tech just because that's what they know and are comfortable with.
