Desktop files are gone!

    I was messing around with mkdir and mctmp in terminal and suddenly all my desktop files disappeared. I don't know where they went and I REALLY need them. They weren't backed up, stupidly. Someone please help!

    What exact commands did you execute? Have you looked in the Trash yet?
    I guess you wanted to install some mod for Minecraft? "mkdir" is for making a directory/folder, thus it should not delete stuff.

    I can't see how those commands would cause your desktop files to vanish...You must have used something else. Do you have Time machine backups?

    I hate to state the obvious question but, Its situations like these that Time Machine is made for.

    Check the trash out to see if they're there, but given that you were using the terminal, its doubtful :(
