Ok, so on my desktop, it seems that I cannot get rid of this network stuff or the .DS file 🙁 I tried ejecting the network things because I am pretty sure they do not belong on the desktop (it didn't work). When I try to delete the .DS file, it reappears almost instantly but their is still a copy of it in the trash bin (so I deleted that).

Looks like you are seeing the hidden files. Download TinkerTool to turn them off (you can do it in terminal, I just don't know how). Also, make sure you only have what you want selected in the Finder Preferences.

When hidden system files are showing, regular folders become faded as in your image. You cannot delete .DS_Store as that is where folder view data is stored.

My question would be...

Why do you have a "PC" icon (since it shows the "Blue Screen of Death") as your Macintosh HD icon?

Just my inquiring mind wanting to know...
