Desktop publishing alternatives

I'm not crazy about the desktop publishing functions in Pages. I especially have trouble editing templates. I would like a simpler, more intuitive program for making brochures, flyers, newsletters and cards mostly for home use. Any suggestions?

I personally find Pages to satisfy most of my needs. Perhaps check out Swift Publisher.

I'll second Swift Publisher. Pretty easy app to use and learn, $19.99 in App Store.
