Can anyone help with this problem. Every time I press the "apple q" keys the desktop relaunches itself. All of my desktop icons, folders disappear for around a few seconds then come back again.

Obviously these keys are used to quit any open application etc, but I have nothing to quit when in view of the desktop. Operating system Tiger 10.4.7
G5 QUAD TOWER

Any ideas what this could be??? Many thanks

Does this happen everytime you quit an application or only when you work with the finder? There are apps that give you a "Quit Finder" option (e.g. Tinker Tool, IIRC), so perhaps you use one of those apps and activated this option?

It just quits when there's nothing to quit!. There's is no application called Tinker Tool on my system either. This is getting quite annoying now.

What's the answer to this question? Is there a "Quit" menu item in Finder? Unless there's one, I don't know what might cause this, perhaps someone else can jump in...
