Desktop Shortcut to Share?

Hi,

Just switched back to Mac after 4 years with Windoze and I cant work out how to do something unbelievably simple....

How do I create a shortcut on my desktop to map to a network drive? I knwo about Comd K which is fine but is there a way to put the shortcut on the desktop so I just have to double click it?

they used to show on the desktop before 10.5 but its now disabled by default. to enable it head into Finder's preferences.
