Desperately Need Help! (Mac setup is stuck)

I have logged onto my new mac and gone through the setup and was copying some files from a USB port when the copying crashed.
I held down the shutdown key and turned it off and now i turn it on and the setup is on the screen again and everytime i go through the setup it just goes back to the start of it.

please help!
anyone ideas

I'd say reinstall the OS something got screwed up with formatting sounds like.

Put the disc (OS X install Disc) in the computer turn it on and hold down "C".

its still doin the same thing.
any other ideas?

the mac OS X setup assistant just keeps reopening after i click the last option whcih is 'done'
