Pass though is sub optimal and requires a lot of light
Eye tracking is rough and not consistent
Hand visibility also requires significant amount of light, not optimal for dark rooms
Optic ID buggy and inconsistent
Some exclusive APV content requires you to sit in an upright position
I think you make some good points. First off I love the vision Pro and I've been having a blast getting used to it. I'm very used to VR and have spent spent a lot of time in VR aside from Vision Pro so please consider that in my comments.
Passthrough is top of class for all VR. There are areas where it still requires improvement, though. I think the best thing that Apple can do right away in this area is to allow more user input into the way that the device handles mixed light. The unit is constantly trying to dim for the brightest light in the scene, which makes sense but in some instances, that is not what the user will want. There is a brightness setting in settings, but that really doesn't address the issue, as it very small range and has an unusual effect. There are also contrast adjustments in accessibility, but those are also not what we are looking for as they address apps specifically. We need to be allowed to blow some highlights in order to properly illuminate a subject. Right now there is no way to do this as it seems that Apple does not want us to have that experience. They will improve this.
I agree with you about eye tracking. From early reviews I had heard that eye tracking was magical. That is not my experience. It is very good when the unit is properly adjusted and calibrated for that adjustment. The problem is that the straps that are offered on Vision Pro are the worst that I have seen in VR. Neither allows for stable or consistent placement. I'm hopeful that the aftermarket will quickly take care of this. Eye Tracking is very reliant on exacting adjustment. Unfortunately, the straps are so bad that each time you put Vision Pro on or even make a small adjustment on your face, perfect alignment is lost and tracking is sacrificed. It's not that it stops working all together. It just becomes sub optimal, and frankly frustrating.
As above optic ID is also compromised by a slightly shifted device which is unavoidable for me due to the straps. Every time optic ID is required after the first time, the device mandates that I shift the device on my face so that optic ID can function the position. It requires me to move it to actually painful and after it is used for optic ID, I move the device back.
I have not had issue with your other complaints.
