I have several (30) 3G and 3GS IPHONEs I got from a company when they upgraded. I am wanting to sell and have been asked what version and firmware is on the phone.

When I connect to Itunes it asks do i want to restore as new and I selected an old backup and it said the software is too old.

I tried another old backup file , it accepted it and replaced the old version with the current one.

How can I determine the version and firmware without updating to the new version? Many want the old version's.

On each phone, open the Settings.app and go to General, then go to About. Modem Firmware and Version(Including Build Number) are what you're looking for.

Also, can't you just reject the upgrade request in iTunes when it asks you? You shouldn't have to update them.
