With the new story on the front page of MacRumors, Apple Insider, & Gizmodo about the fact that augmented reality apps are now coming to the iPhone once 3.1 is released, information was dropped by the developer AcrossAir? that Apple told them 3.1 is coming out in early September.

Now that is still roughly 5-6 weeks away. Will we be seeing a 3.0.1 to at least fix the bugs of 3.0 then 3.1 will add the features come September? I would think that Apple could build 3.0.1 as almost a "Lite" version of 3.1 that just solely fixes the bugs people have been having and maybe improve battery life and speed. Thoughts?

If they don't release a 3.0.1 to fix the Exchange 2003 calendar invite issue, my company will probably dispose of 20-30 iPhones, as that bug has destroyed iPhone credibility at the office.

This is the first time they have ever done this.

Usually they release an update ONE month after the software comes out.

Which is usually a x.0.1.

1.0 to 1.1 took June 29 to Sept. 14
2.0 to 2.1 took July 11 to Sept 12

So, the September date for 3.1 sounds about right.

MMS has nothing to do with Apple at this point. Apple doesn't need to release an update to enable MMS, it is enabled on the phone already. AT&T just has to enable it on their end and release a carrier update.

Is there something magic about September for an update? Is Steve Jobs' bday in that month? :)
