Developer Earns Nearly $1,400 in One Day With iAds

It still amazes me that people actually click on ads.

Well those ain't any ordinary ads, those are iAds!

And yes, I agree this all is a bit weird. I understand that ads are a tool for devs to make money, but to me as just a customer they are a nuisance and something I just block either with adblock or if not possible then just ignore.

I also tried another free one and it the i there was an iAds tab at the bottom but when I clicked it nothing happened. Maybe they aren't activated in Ireland?

They won't work in the UK until September. I assume this also applies to anywhere outside the US.

For what it's worth, a developer can click on their own app's ads and make money for themselves. It looks like they are capping the usage per device to about $10/day before it stops serving up the ads altogether.

The question is, how many times he clicked the ads in his own app to get that money.

More interesting would be to read, how effective the iad campaigns are for the advertisers!

I advertised with AdMob once and I am sure, they employ students to click ADs the whole day.

From 1000 paid clicks I got 600 real visits and not a single "customer" and all clicks were a 1 second visits. I advertised my website.

As soon as advertisers realize that the system can be cheated by the company (hopefully Apple plays fair) or the developer itself, the hype will settle and iAd won't bring you so much money.

Inapp Purchase is more interesting in my opinion.

If I am in a situation, where I need a flashlight, I don't concentrate on the screen and for sure not on ADs. I just watch my feet, where to step, or looking for the keyhole or something like that.

I'm wondering if it's to do with being in the UK, as I don't see any ads either :$

I downloaded Tiptitude (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/tiptitude-iad-supported-tip/id378981962?mt=8) and whilst the screenshots clearly show an iAd, I don't see them.

As an aside, read the comments on that app. People criticize it because they can't see the iAd. lol.

FYI, you don't actually have to have an iPhone 4 but you do need to be running iOS4 in the US to see that ads at this point.
