I just installed the Java update this morning and when I opened up my Macintosh HD later on in the afternoon I only had 5 folders when there used to be 6. When I went through time machine to figure out what the missing folder is it ended up being the Developer folder. I never use that folder, but I would still like to have all my folders intact.

Does anyone know if the Java update caused the Developer folder to go missing? If that folder is missing who knows what other app's or folders I have missing. I was able to restore of course from time machine, but I'm just curious on why it went missing in the first place. Does anyone have any clues/ideas?

Thanks!!!

I just noticed the SAME thing and sure enough, I just installed the new Java update today as well... anyone else know what causes this?

yesh

Yeah, that folder seems to have dropped out of he Macintosh HD folder, there wasn't really anything in it other than a couple of links to some aliases, for applauncher and something else.

One could probably get it back via TM, but why? It appears to have been removed for a reason.

Me too... Developer folder gone... but why?

Installed the regular software updates and after restart noticed that ClamXav had not restarted??? Did some poking around and found that it did not start because the developer folder was missing (one of the folders that I had added to be watched by ClamXav). Looked in the time machine and it was there just before doing the software update. Not that I ever gave this folder a second thought or used it for anything, but why did it go away? Why was it there to begin with? Just want to know in case I need it for some obscure function before it goes away at some future date from my TM.
