I was forced to restore to 4.2 after my iPhone 4 running 4.1 had serious problems where the phone app wouldn't work. I insured that I had SHSH's for 4.1 on file in Cydia which I did when apple was signing them. In TinyUmbrella I have SHSH's saved for 4.0.1 4.0.2 and 4.1 but whenever I try to restore I get the error "Device isn't eligible for firmware" I really would love my Jailbroken phone back. Preferably running 4.1 but I'll take 4.0.x

Heres my Hosts file incase I messed that up somehow.

I've looked all over but couldn't find a good answer, please help.

Hosts File
Code:
##
# Host Database
#
# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
##

I had to update to 4.2.1 (8C148) BB 05.15.04 on my 3G after my phone wouldn't boot and nothing else would work, so I had to restore via iTunes which put 4.2.1 on my 3G and I was able to JB using Redsn0w beta 5 about a month ago.

Maybe upgrade to iOS 4.2.1 and JB using Redsn0w as a last resort?

I originally used Blackra1n last in November of 2009 to JB and it worked fine until one day this September, the phone wouldn't boot under any circumstances other than doing an iTunes restore.

Unfortunatley, I didn't have my 3.1.3 Blobs saved, but was still able to JB running iOS 4.2.1 (8C148) BB 05.15.04

After working out a few minor bugs due to bad 3rd party apps, the phone works great and battery life has slightly improved.
