So many "security" apps and services there must be overlap but I'm not certain:

Router with WPA or other security;
Bitdefender Box-type security devices;
Bitdefender app antivirus;
VPN;
etc.

How do I fully understand the capabilities and limitations of the different offerings; what features overlap or duplicate entirely; and what really works?

VPN, WPA, and antivirus provide different types of security.

Not sure what you mean by "Box type". Do you mean a hardware firewall?

Most VPNs log at least some data. Hotspot Shield even injects code and advertising into your traffic. Roll your own VPN if you want that security, I can give you a link if you want 🙂
