Its an ok game i guess. Being that I love the show i figured id give the game a try. I give it an 5/10. I have had it 2 days and would NOT buy it if I had the chance again. Maybe for .99.

Now a Dexter (Showtime) + Dexter (Cartoon Network) game would be super awesome.

    Just sayin'...

And I'm not a fanboy of Dexter, I actually have not even seen the show. I feel that the production value of the game is well above average, especially for a game that is modeled after a TV show. I only have played it for about an hour but so far I would say that it is worth the price it is at now. I might be partial to it since I love adventure games but still it is a good game even if you aren't really into adventure games.

That's interesting - I wasn't sure that a non-fan would be into it ... I started watching the show just last year, and loved it. Come to think of it, I checked out the show after seeing news about this game! It sounded interesting, so I downloaded the first season from iTunes and I was hooked. ;) So for me, the game is great - the music, the atmosphere, the voice work. You really ought to check out at least season one though, since you like the game. Compare your responses in conversations with what 'really' happened ... :D

I just wanted to say a couple things. First off, I've never seen the show, but I really love this game. In fact, after playing for a couple hours, I added Dexter to my Netflix order :D The game is pretty deep, has nice graphics, and for the most part, keeps you very entertained.

For anyone that has played it, I found a bug. For some reason, the game won't let me check my messages on the answering machine. It gives me the "save" button, but for some reason it won't show "messages". Anyone come across this problem, or know how to get around it.

I am a fan of the show and that has stopped me from buying the app. From everything that I have seen, it appears to be a retelling of the first season. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but in this case it doesn't seem to add much to a story I already know. It seems like there would not be much of a challenge outside of mini games.
Please correct me if I'm wrong...

I just finished the game and, first off, let me say that knowing what I know now about the game, I would definitely buy it again.

The game does follow parts of the first season, but the one disappointment I have---SPOILER ALERT (highlight to read)---is that, outside of the whole frozen-head-thrown-onto-Dexter's-hood scene, there is no interaction between Dexter and the ITK. Will the makers of the game add the rest of that storyline in a future update? If that's the case, I'm buying the update.

As for the controls, the double-joystick option is not as easy to use as the single-joystick option, but when swiping across the screen to move, as you do with the single-joystick option, your finger may sometimes cover the message buttons on the right side (examine, pick lock, etc.), so that if one pops up as you're searching a room, it's harder to notice it.

The tilt-to-move option wasn't incredibly responsive.

As for the awesome music, it's exactly what you hear in the series, as are the character voices (or most of them, anyway). And that's very cool. Also, I have a similar response when playing the game as I always do when watching an episode: I slip into total immersion mode and the outside world just falls away -- always the best feeling to have when playing a video game or watching a show or movie.

I finished the game, but I didn't get every clue (I'm thinking that having more clues open to you may depend, in part, on how you respond during conversations). My final score was Mask: 531.4, Dark Passenger: 910. Unfortunately, I really have no idea what these scores mean...
