LOL this is such a terrible lie.

it isnt, i was wondering to, i was playing only to skeletton king in act one, they say that the game gets more difficult to run smooth in higher acts and higher difficulty...
i really dont know which machine to buy now, i dont play any games, i just want to play diablo 3 on my HDTV in fullHD res and a 15 inch MBP would do just fine but its so big and heavy and i really like the form factor and weight of the 13" MBA...damn...

I made a video for this as I was curious myself before I purchased an Air.

thats cool! on a 11" MBA? really?? i'm sooo curious how it'd run on 1920x1080 res (with not all the settings completly dropped) in act 3 or 4 in difficulties like hell or nightmare...

Also if you have a video of it running I would appreciate it. **For comparison I am running a early 2008 Macbook Pro with a 8400M GT graphics card now which appears to be pretty crappy comparatively.

Intel GPUs are not usualy very good for gaming wether you got a PC laptop or Mac Book. That said. I have a 2011 Mac mini with the Intel HD 3000. It work fairly decent. The first thing it needs is more memory. 8GB of memory will enable 512MB of video memory on the Intel GPU. 368MB the default 4GB will only make a slow GPU slower.

Intel GPUs are also tied to the speed of the processor. Basicaly the faster the CPU clock is the faster the Intel GPU will be. A Mac Book Air is geared for portability and low power. The GPU will be clocked too slow on the AIR to make an effective gaming experience.

My Mac mini is clocked at 2.3ghz. The older Intel HD 3000 with 512MB of video memory (taken from the 8GB of installed DDR3 memory), can run Diablo 3 at 1280x800 at all low settings (textures, Physics, Clutter detail, Shadow quality), no Anti-aliasing, check mark low quality special effects.). D3 still looks great at this settings. The graphics is on par with Xbox 360 or PS3.

I suggest getting the 13" 2012 Mac Book Pro. It's weight is very light, and is thinner than most PC laptops. The 3.1 turboboosted new i5 with Intel HD 4000
with 8GB of memory should produce 60% better than my mac mini. Basicaly it could run 1280x800 resolution with high settings, anti aliasing may be too much for it though. 1080p graphics will be out of the question either. There are not many laptops that can do 1080p graphics. The ones that do are big bulky and have very poor battery life.

I disagree about Mac being inferrior to PC for games. The relatively new Mac App store has fueled a Renasonce for MAC as a gaming platform. PC gaming has been in decline for a while. It's so bad that MS is putting Xbox Live companion app on Windows 8 an it's new Tablet computer.

The Mac Book Pro 15" had a Nvidia Geforce GTX 650m which is very good gaming GPU if you can drop the 2 grand or more for the laptop. The iMAC with the it's Radeon GPU can run prety much any Game. You may not beable to get the same results as some uber geek's gaming rig, but good enough.

We'd all love to see a video of a base 13" running D3 smoothly at max. It'll be the only one in the world that can do that if true.

Well to my own suprise I have to disagree with you. I can even make the story harder to believe... Today I bought Diablo III for my PC and just to see if it was possible I also installed the game on my 13" 2010 MBA with 4gb ram, OS X Mountain Lion.

And to my great suprise... it runs the game @
-1440x900, all settings High (!)
-and even AA on & Low FX off (!)
-maximize FPS @ 60

I played several scenes in Act I with sometimes 15-20 enemies around me. I don't know if the performance in later scenes will be worse but until now it's really fine.

The game actually looks better on my 13" MBA than on my PC because the PC has as 23" @ 1920x1080. I don't know why it's possible, maybe it's because Blizzard and Apple worked together really close to get D3 looking good in Mountain Lion for the Retina Macbook Pro?
