I have a 20" iMac that is 5 years old. The power went out the other day and ever since all applications and the internet are loading and running very slow. Is there a way to run a diagnostic test to see what is wrong?

Apple Hardware Test could help, maybe your HDD is shot. Do you have backed up all your important data yet?
The hard drive was actually replaced last year. I do have it backed up on an external drive. I will try running the apple hardware test as you suggested.
