You mean the Phone app? I don't believe it supports horizontal orientation.

that's kind of odd when I have it on my car holder..I mean I get it people probably don't use it that way anyway...just want to confirm..

It doesn't rotate. But I have often wished it would. Being I do use my iPhone in landscape often.

You cant hold it upside down and dial a phone number because then the headphone ear piece will be down near your mouth and the mic will be inside your ear.
