People said the same thing about Guy Lombardo -- but you know what? New Year's happens every year with or without these celebrities.
Hilary Duff's "performance" (*cough*) of her song "Beat of My Heart" (which must be the title 'cause those are the only words in it) was pre-recorded: they said so at the beginning of her appearance. That's how it seemed she was able to change clothes so quickly.
(My 10-year-old daughter is a fan of hers, so I couldn't turn it off.)
Ditto in my house for what IJ does-- friends, food, and no driving while the amateurs are out.
I was glad to see Dick on screen again, though. It reminded me of my years as a preteen watching him on NYE.
